Hello,
I am Dr. Yetkin Karaoğlu. I conduct academic research in the field of the History of Religions, with a particular focus on Japanese religions, new religious movements, and interactions among different faith traditions. Through this blog, I aim to share not only my academic work, but also my travel notes, reflections inspired by books and music, and observations on different cultures and religions.
I believe that knowledge emerges not only through academic texts, but also through experiences, journeys, and encounters. For this reason, you may find notes here from a conference hall, a temple, or a monastery, as well as reflections from a long day of reading accompanied by a cup of coffee.

In my media presentations, I share my work in the field of the History of Religions. My content focuses on Japanese religions, Shinto, Japanese New Religious Movements, comparative religion, Judaism, and interreligious interactions. I produce video content in Turkish, English, Arabic, and Japanese.

In my blog posts, I bring together my travel experiences with personal reflections on culture, religion, people, and place. I explore themes such as estrangement, belonging, intercultural encounters, and ways of thinking through the people, cities, and forms of everyday life I encounter in different geographies. I also share my observations and experiences related to coffee and books, music, films, and different places. While these writings reflect traces of an academic perspective, I approach everyday experiences and travel as opportunities to rethink the relationship between the individual, the self, and the surrounding world. I publish my writings in Turkish, English, and Japanese.
